Shows and Sales

Southwest Type Conference

     The Southwest Type Conference is held in Belton, Texas.  Boars and gilts farrowed July 1 and after along with bred gilts are eligible to show at the Winter Conference.  All 8 breeds are at this event.

Summer Type Conference

        The Summer Conference is held in Springfield, Illinois.  Boars and gilts farrowed December 1 and after are eligible to show, along with bred gilts farrowed May 1 and after.  The Team Purebred junior summer national is also held in conjunction with this event (see TEAM PUREBRED from our home page for more information).  In addition, the main fundraiser for the American Berkshire Foundation is held.  Chesters, Polands and Spots also participate in the Summer Conference.

World Pork Expo

     The World Pork Expo is the leading event in the swine industry.  Held in Des Moines, Iowa eight breeds of swine participate in this international event.  Boars and gilts farrowed October 1 and after are eligible to at the Expo.  Bred gilts also are part of the show.  There is also a junior gilt and barrow show (see TEAM PUREBRED for more information). All 8 breeds are at this event. 

National Barrow Show

    The tradition of swine shows was started with the National Barrow Show in Austin, Minnesota.  Boars and gilts farrowed February 1 and after, along with bred gilts are eligible to show.  There will also be a market hog show and junior barrow show (see TEAM PUREBRED for more information) at this year's National Barrow Show.  All 8 breeds are at this event.

Fall Classic/Duncan

    Berkshires are invited to the Fall Classic for the first time in 2010.  Boars and gilts farrowed April 1 and after are eligible to show.  NSR also holds a weanling pig sift and sale (see www.Nationalswine.com for more information).  All 8 breeds have breeding stock at this event.
